Overview

RNA-binding motif protein 26 is a protein encoded by the RBM26 gene in humans. It contains RNA-binding domains and is predicted to be active in the nucleus, where it participates in RNA metabolism processes such as pre-mRNA splicing, RNA stability, and possibly the turnover of nuclear polyadenylated RNA[1][4][10]. The protein is part of the larger family of RBM (RNA-binding motif) proteins, which regulate various aspects of RNA processing and gene expression at the post-transcriptional level[6]. Although mutations in RBM26 have been associated with inherited conditions such as anthracosis and osteopetrosis, there is no direct evidence that RBM26 is itself a current therapeutic target or that it interacts with specific drugs[4][6]. The protein's function is supported by general studies of the RBM family, which have been implicated in cancer progression and regulation, but specific mechanistic or drug targeting data for RBM26 is lacking[6].
