RNA binding motif protein 43 (RBM43) is a member of the RNA-binding motif protein family, characterized by one or more RNA-recognition motifs (RRMs). RBM43 is a nuclear protein that plays critical roles in post-transcriptional gene regulation, including RNA splicing, stability, and translation. Functionally, RBM43 acts as a tumor suppressor and is notably involved in cell cycle regulation by binding to the 3' untranslated region (3'-UTR) of CyclinB1 mRNA, thereby reducing its expression and inhibiting cell cycle progression in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Its expression is often reduced in tumors, correlating with poor prognosis. Diseases associated with RBM43 include cancer and neurodegenerative conditions such as frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. RBM43 is considered a potential therapeutic target and a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis[1][2][3][5][6][7].
