RNA-binding motif protein 4B (RBM4B) is a member of the RNA-binding protein family distinguished by its RNA recognition motifs and zinc finger domains, which facilitate its interaction with RNA molecules. It is mainly involved in the regulation of alternative splicing and translation of mRNAs, particularly in muscle cell differentiation, stress response, and circadian rhythm regulation. RBM4B is expressed in mammalian tissues, including the nervous system and pancreas, and may play a regulatory role in the alternative splicing of genes involved in glucose signaling and insulin sensitivity. Structurally, RBM4B consists of two N-terminal RNA recognition motifs (RRMs), a CCHC-type zinc finger, and a less conserved C-terminal domain important for nuclear localization and splicing function. Although described in cellular and disease processes, RBM4B is not considered a validated therapeutic target in current pharmacology, and no drugs are directed against it.
