Overview

RNA binding motif protein 7 pseudogene 1 (RBM7P1) is a human pseudogene highly homologous to the functional RBM7 gene but is considered non-coding and does not encode an active protein product. Pseudogenes are defined as genetic elements that arise from duplication or retrotransposition of functional genes and typically undergo mutations rendering them non-functional, though some may have regulatory effects as non-coding RNAs in rare cases. There is currently no evidence that RBM7P1 produces functional RNA, impacts cellular phenotype, or is implicated in any disease or therapeutic context. Any functional data or disease relevance in the literature pertains to the parental gene RBM7, not the pseudogene RBM7P1.

Mechanism of action

None

03

Biological functions

None directly attributed to the pseudogene; parental RBM7 is a splicing factor, but no such function is assigned to RBM7P1
04

Disease associations

None attributed directly; RBM7 (the parental gene) is associated with breast cancer biology, but RBM7P1 is not
