RBMY2AP is a human pseudogene that does not encode a functional protein[2][11]. It is a member of the RBMY (RNA-binding motif, Y chromosome) gene family, which is generally implicated in *spermatogenesis*, but RBMY2AP itself is non-coding and considered functionally inactive[2][7][13]. Pseudogenes, although mostly non-functional, have in some cases been suggested to act as decoys for microRNAs, impacting the regulation of their functional paralogs[6], but no specific biological or disease-modifying function is documented for RBMY2AP. The protein-coding RBMY gene family is germ cell-specific and involved in male fertility and spermatogenesis[7]. RBMY2AP may be detected as a sequence on the Y chromosome but lacks protein-coding capability, and is not actionable as a molecular target in drug development or as a clinically relevant biomarker[2][11][13].
