RNA binding motif protein Y-linked family 2 member D pseudogene (RBMY2DP) is a processed pseudogene located on the human Y chromosome[2][3][6][10]. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes such as RBMY2DP generally do not encode functional proteins due to mutations or other disabling changes in their coding sequence[8][9]. Pseudogenes are now understood to occasionally participate in cellular regulation, often by acting as microRNA decoys or competitive endogenous RNAs that may influence the expression of related protein-coding genes, though most pseudogenes remain functionally uncharacterized[8]. There is no evidence that RBMY2DP encodes a protein or is used as a therapeutic target, and there are no known associated drugs, biomarker applications, or notable safety concerns related to this pseudogene. Its classification as a non-coding and non-protein-coding pseudogene distinguishes it from its protein-coding RBMY gene family paralogs, which are involved in spermatogenesis[5][7].
