RNA binding motif protein Y-linked family 2 member O pseudogene (RBMY2OP) is a human pseudogene on the Y chromosome. It represents a non-protein-coding remnant related to the RBMY gene family, which contains functional genes involved in RNA binding and alternative splicing during spermatogenesis[3][5][6]. Unlike the functional RBMY proteins, the RBMY2OP locus does not encode an active protein but remains as a non-functional RNA[3][5]. Pseudogenes such as RBMY2OP may play indirect biological roles, potentially acting as competitive endogenous RNAs that regulate gene expression through interactions with microRNAs, although this has not been directly demonstrated for RBMY2OP[4]. There is no evidence that RBMY2OP is a drug target, nor are there known drugs, mechanism of action, biomarker, or disease associations specific to this pseudogene[3][5][6].
