RNA-binding motif single-stranded-interacting protein 1 (RBMS1) is a protein encoded by the RBMS1 gene in humans. It belongs to a family of proteins characterized by the presence of ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) required for binding single-stranded DNA and RNA. RBMS1 plays roles in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. It can specifically bind single-stranded DNA motifs and is known to interact with regulatory regions upstream of the MYC oncogene, thus influencing important cellular processes and having potential implications in cancer biology. Multiple isoforms are produced through alternative splicing, and several aliases for RBMS1 exist due to its identification in various functional contexts.
