Overview

RNA binding protein with multiple splicing-like pseudogene (RBPMSLP) is a human pseudogene (GeneID: 54032)[2][4][6]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically non-functional; they do not encode active proteins. RBPMSLP is not known to produce a functional RNA-binding protein, nor is it established as a biological therapeutic target. There is no evidence that RBPMSLP plays a direct role in physiology, pathology, or drug response. In contrast, its parent gene, RNA binding protein with multiple splicing (RBPMS), is a functional RNA-binding protein involved in the regulation of alternative splicing, particularly in vascular smooth muscle cell phenotype[1]. However, RBPMSLP itself does not encode a functional protein and lacks any recognized biological or clinical implications.
