The disruption of normal RNA processes caused by the integration of 5-fluorouridine triphosphate (FUTP) into RNA. FUTP competes with UTP and is incorporated into newly synthesized RNA by cellular RNA polymerases, altering the structure and function of various RNAs. This leads to impaired processing and maturation, disrupted splicing, altered stability, and inhibition or modification of post-transcriptional modifications. These disruptions collectively impair protein synthesis, stress response mechanisms, and overall cell viability.
Incorporation of FUTP into RNA disrupts normal RNA processing, stability, and function, leading to impaired protein synthesis and cell death.
