RAMACL (RNA guanine-7 methyltransferase activating subunit like) is a protein coding gene annotated as a pseudogene and paralog of RAMAC. RAMACL is predicted to enable RNA binding and may be involved (according to sequence homology) in RNA 5'-cap (guanine-N7)-methylation as part of the mRNA capping enzyme complex in the nucleus. However, this function is not experimentally validated for RAMACL, and the canonical function is attributed to its paralog RAMAC, which plays a regulatory role in the mRNA cap methyltransferase complex involved in mRNA metabolism. Therefore, RAMACL itself is not a validated molecular target for therapeutic intervention and is not directly implicated in disease or drug action[1][5].
