RRN3P2 is a pseudogene in humans, classified as a putative homolog of the yeast RNA polymerase I transcription factor RRN3 (sometimes also called TIF-1A in yeast). While it is predicted to encode a protein with RNA polymerase I core binding activity and potentially capable of functioning as a general transcription initiation factor for RNA polymerase I, there is no experimental evidence supporting that RRN3P2 produces a functional protein in humans. The gene is inactive and believed to play no direct functional role as a canonical protein or therapeutic target. RRN3P2 is primarily considered a non-coding relic closely related to the functional RRN3 gene, which is involved in ribosomal RNA synthesis and RNA polymerase I transcription, but RRN3P2 itself is not recognized as a drug target and has no established biological, pharmacological, or disease relevance beyond limited bioinformatic association studies[1][2][6][8][12].
