Overview

RNA polymerase II-associated protein 1 (RPAP1) is a large, evolutionarily conserved protein identified as a component that physically associates with the RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) complex in human cells[3][4]. It does not possess a clearly defined catalytic activity or domain but may play a role in recruiting or stabilizing RNAPII at chromatin, thereby impacting transcriptional regulation. RPAP1 shares homology with essential proteins in yeast required for cell viability and gene expression, suggesting a conserved but possibly non-catalytic role in transcriptional processes. RPAP1 may also belong to the Armadillo (ARM) repeat protein superfamily, although definitive structural motifs were not confirmed. Its precise functional contributions, particularly in human cells, remain under investigation[3][4].
