Overview

RNA polymerase II associated protein 2 pseudogene 1 (RPAP2P1) is a predicted pseudogene in the human genome. Pseudogenes resemble protein-coding genes but are generally considered non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. There is no evidence that RPAP2P1 encodes a functional protein, nor that it is involved in any biological pathways, disease processes, or functions as a therapeutic target. It is distinct from the protein-coding gene RNA polymerase II associated protein 2 (RPAP2), which participates in RNA polymerase II biogenesis and nuclear import, but RPAP2P1 itself has no known functional or clinical relevance.
