RNF14 pseudogene 4 (RNF14P4) is a non-coding pseudogene located on human chromosome 7. It shares high sequence similarity with the functional RNF14 gene, which encodes a RING finger E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in protein-protein interactions, transcriptional regulation, and translation-associated protein quality control. Pseudogenes like RNF14P4 do not encode classical proteins but may regulate gene expression of their parental gene through mechanisms such as miRNA sponging or acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs); however, there is no evidence in public data that RNF14P4 exerts such functions. RNF14P4 is therefore not considered a therapeutic target or receptor, and there are no drugs, mechanisms of action, or disease associations directly attributed to RNF14P4. Important note: If your intent is to study the functional RNF14 gene/protein (ring finger protein 14), that molecule is relevant for cancer, transcriptional regulation, and ubiquitination, but RNF14P4 (the pseudogene) is not. There may be confusion between the pseudogene and the functional protein.
