Overview

RNY1 pseudogene 5 (RNY1P5) is a processed pseudogene of the Y RNA family, mapped to chromosome 13 (chr13:74289100-74289214), and registered as NCBI Gene 100862667[7]. Unlike the functional RNY1 gene, which encodes a small noncoding RNA known to associate with Ro60/La ribonucleoproteins and is essential for DNA replication and implicated in cancer, cardiovascular, and autoimmune diseases[1][3][5], RNY1P5 itself is not known to be transcribed or translated, nor shown to play a direct biological or pathological role. Pseudogenes can regulate gene expression through ceRNA mechanisms, but there is no direct evidence that RNY1P5 fulfills such a function[2][4]. Therefore, it is not considered a therapeutic target.
