RNY3 pseudogene 14 (RNY3P14) is a processed pseudogene related to the Y RNA family, specifically deriving from the RNY3 (RNA, Ro-associated Y3) gene. While functional Y RNA molecules like RNY3 participate in critical cellular processes such as DNA replication and possibly cell cycle regulation, pseudogenes such as RNY3P14 are generally considered non-functional genetic elements produced through retrotransposition or duplication. There is no evidence that RNY3P14 encodes a functional RNA or protein, nor that it is involved in any canonical biological or pathological process. Pseudogenes can sometimes function as regulatory RNAs, acting as microRNA decoys or influencing gene expression indirectly, but no such function has been specifically described for RNY3P14[1][2][3][5][6].
