Overview

RNY4 pseudogene 27 (RNY4P27) is a pseudogene found on human chromosome 13 (chr13:95336106-95336201, hg38)[3][7]. It is annotated as a non-coding RNA sequence with high sequence similarity to the functional RNY4 gene (RNA, Ro60-associated Y4), but unlike the parental RNY4, it is considered non-functional in terms of encoding a mature RNA with documented biological activity[3][7]. The RNY4P27 sequence may be detected in genomics or transcriptomics studies as a non-coding RNA pseudogene; however, there is no evidence it is a direct or indirect therapeutic target, nor does it have known biological, signaling, or disease functions on its own. The functional parent RNY4 is a Y RNA implicated in RNA stability, DNA replication, cell stress responses, and is abundantly packaged in exosomes from some cancer patients, but RNY4 pseudogenes themselves (including RNY4P27) are not implicated in these functions[1][2][5]. Some pseudogenes can regulate gene expression (for example, via competing endogenous RNA mechanisms), but no specific regulatory or disease-associated role has been reported for RNY4P27 specifically[4][6][7]. No drugs target RNY4P27, and it is not studied or used as a disease biomarker, nor are there known safety concerns relevant to therapeutic targeting[7].
