Overview

RNY4 pseudogene 6 (RNY4P6) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene related to the parental RNY4 gene, which encodes a Ro60-associated Y4 RNA. RNY4P6 is considered a processed pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein and is presumed to lack normal RNA function. Pseudogenes like RNY4P6 may theoretically act as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or microRNA sponges, but specific regulatory or functional roles for RNY4P6 have not been described in the literature. The parental gene, RNY4, is involved in RNA stability and is a component of ribonucleoprotein complexes, and fragments of RNY4—not RNY4P6—are being studied as cancer biomarkers[1][2][5]. There is no direct evidence linking RNY4P6 to disease or therapeutic modulation.
