RORA antisense RNA 2 (RORA-AS2) is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcribed from the RORA locus, on the strand opposite the coding gene for retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor A (RORA). Antisense RNAs like RORA-AS2 can regulate the expression of their target sense gene (in this case, RORA), typically by transcriptional interference, RNA-RNA pairing leading to mRNA degradation, or influencing chromatin organization in cis or trans[2]. Although antisense RNAs are important in regulatory gene networks and are emerging as tools/targets for therapy (mainly through synthetic antisense oligonucleotides), there is currently no evidence that RORA-AS2 itself serves as a direct therapeutic target, nor that it has any direct implication as a disease biomarker or target molecule in human disease. However, direct literature or experimental data about RORA-AS2 as an independent molecular entity remains extremely limited, and it is not currently considered a named therapeutic target or receptor.
