Overview

Rotatin (RTTN) is a large intracellular protein implicated in the maintenance of normal ciliary structure and thus plays a crucial role in embryonic development, including left-right asymmetry, neural tube differentiation, and heart formation. Mutations in the RTTN gene are associated with severe neurodevelopmental disorders such as microcephaly and polymicrogyria, as well as defects in organ positioning. While its specific biochemical function is not fully elucidated, studies confirm important developmental roles, but it is not considered a conventional therapeutic target or receptor[3][10][8].
