Its bioactive components are reported to modulate various physiological pathways, including estrogen receptor signaling and antioxidant defense mechanisms, contributing to its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties (PMID: 31591341). Clinical interest in royal jelly focuses on its potential for managing menopausal symptoms, metabolic syndrome, and wound healing, although it is not a drug target itself. A significant therapeutic challenge is its high allergenicity, as it can induce severe hypersensitivity reactions and anaphylaxis in susceptible individuals (PMID: 25561231).
Royal jelly functions as a multi-component bioactive substance rather than a target; its lipid component 10-HDA acts as a fatty acid that can modulate estrogen receptors, while MRJPs exhibit growth factor-like effects on various cell types (PMID: 22110774).
