Overview

RP11-296E3.2 (also known as SNX7 divergent transcript or SNX7-DT) is a novel human-specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that acts as a molecular chaperone for the RNA-binding protein YBX1, thereby promoting the transcription and phosphorylation of STAT3. RP11-296E3.2 is upregulated in metastatic and drug-resistant colorectal cancer and facilitates cancer cell proliferation and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, it physically binds to YBX1, enabling YBX1-mediated activation of STAT3 gene expression, which drives colorectal carcinogenesis and cancer progression. Due to its key oncogenic function, RP11-296E3.2 is considered a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target, as well as a clinically relevant biomarker for colorectal cancer[1][3].
