RPA3 pseudogene 1

Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

RPA3 pseudogene 1 is a genomic sequence highly homologous to the RPA3 gene, which encodes a small subunit (14 kDa) of the essential Replication Protein A (RPA) complex involved in single-stranded DNA binding during DNA replication and repair[1][3][5]. Pseudogenes like RPA3 pseudogene 1 are generally non-coding, may have lost their protein-coding function, and are not generally considered molecular drug targets[4]. In rare cases, pseudogenes can modulate expression of their parent genes or act as non-coding RNAs, possibly regulating gene function in a competitive manner[2][4]. However, there is no current evidence that RPA3 pseudogene 1 encodes a functional protein, is involved in human disease, or is druggable.
