RPAP3 divergent transcript (RPAP3-DT) is a non-coding RNA annotated in the human genome, located near the RPAP3 gene[3]. Unlike RPAP3, which encodes a protein component of the PAQosome complex (involved in protein folding and stabilization), RPAP3-DT does not encode a functional protein and lacks evidence for receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical drug target roles[3][1]. The name "divergent transcript" refers to the common phenomenon of bidirectional (divergent) transcription occurring at gene promoters, where lncRNAs are transcribed in the opposite direction from coding genes[4]. These divergent transcripts are largely regulatory and may participate in gene expression modulation, but RPAP3-DT specifically does not have an established functional role or therapeutic relevance in current literature[3][4]. This entry is not a classical therapeutic target, is not a receptor, and has no evidence for drug interaction or diagnostic/research utility. It is not misspelled, but its inclusion as a “target molecule/receptor” is misleading—its function as a transcript is unrelated to targeting in drug discovery or pharmacology contexts. The associated RPAP3 protein, however, is a scaffold protein involved with molecular chaperone complexes, but that is a distinct entity[1].
