RPL7L1 pseudogene 14 (abbreviated RPL7L1P14) is an annotated pseudogene in the human genome. It is a non-functional genetic element related by sequence similarity to the RPL7L1 gene, which itself is a ribosomal protein L7-like gene. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes such as RPL7L1P14 do not produce functional proteins and are not regarded as receptors, enzymes, or other typical drug targets. The HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC) lists RPL7L1P14 as a "pseudogene" with approved status, having no annotated protein-coding transcripts or direct biological function. It is crucial to note that the functional RPL7L1 gene (not the pseudogene) has been implicated in tumor biology, cell proliferation, immune modulation, chemoresistance, and prognosis in multiple cancers; these findings do not apply to RPL7L1P14. There are no known drugs, mechanisms of action, or safety considerations related to RPL7L1P14. Therefore, RPL7L1P14 is not a valid drug target or functional protein. If information about the functional ribosomal protein L7-like 1 is sought, the canonical gene symbol RPL7L1 should be used.
