RPL7L1 pseudogene 18 (RPL7L1P18)

Target
RPL7L1P18
Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

RPL7L1 pseudogene 18 is a non-coding genomic locus highly homologous to the protein-coding ribosomal protein L7-like 1 gene (RPL7L1). Pseudogenes, including RPL7L1P18, do not produce functional proteins and are not considered classical therapeutic targets. Their biological and clinical relevance derives primarily from sequence homology rather than direct effects; in rare cases, pseudogene transcripts may modulate cellular biology by acting as competing endogenous RNAs, but such functions have not been documented for RPL7L1P18 specifically[4]. The parent RPL7L1 gene is implicated in cancer biology (especially tumor proliferation, migration, apoptosis inhibition, and immunosuppressive microenvironments)[1][3]. However, all information associating RPL7L1 with disease, biomarkers, or therapeutic response is specific to the functional gene, not to its pseudogenes.
