Overview

TRIM39-RPP21 is a readthrough fusion protein in humans containing the N-terminal tripartite motif (RING, B-box, coiled-coil) of TRIM39 and the C-terminal portion of RPP21, a ribonuclease P subunit. It is transcribed in tissues such as human fetal lung and smooth muscle cells, localizes to intranuclear speckles, and is phosphorylated by cGMP-dependent protein kinase I (PKGI). While it retains characteristics of E3 ubiquitin ligases and RNA-protein complexes, its exact biological role is still poorly understood and it is not established as a recognized drug target or disease biomarker.
