RPS27AP12, or ribosomal protein S27a pseudogene 12, is a processed pseudogene in the human genome[1][5]. It is derived from the parental RPS27A gene, which encodes the ribosomal protein S27a, a structural component of the 40S ribosomal subunit involved in translation and cellular stress response[3][4]. However, RPS27AP12 itself has no known protein-coding potential and does not produce functional ribosomal protein S27a. As a pseudogene, it lacks the ability to act as a functional receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target and has no known biological functions, disease associations, or drug interactions[5].
