Overview

RPS3A pseudogene 2 (RPS3AP2) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein S3A gene (RPS3A). Pseudogenes like RPS3AP2 do not code for functional proteins and generally lack direct biological activity. There may be subtle regulatory RNA roles for some pseudogenes, but there is no evidence that RPS3AP2 has such a function. It is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or other standard therapeutic target. The canonical RPS3A gene encodes a functional ribosomal protein S3a, but RPS3AP2 is a non-functional DNA sequence bearing similarity to RPS3A. There are no drugs, known interactions, or disease roles associated with RPS3AP2. No evidence suggests it is misspelled, mischaracterized, or otherwise incorrect in available sources.
