RPS3A pseudogene 51 (RPS3AP51)

Target
RPS3AP51
Molecular classification
Other (Processed pseudogene)

Overview

RPS3A pseudogene 51 is a processed genomic pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein S3A gene. It is one of at least 60 processed pseudogenes originating from the RPS3A gene dispersed throughout the human genome. Unlike the functional RPS3A protein—which is a structural component of the ribosomal 40S subunit essential for protein synthesis—RPS3AP51 does not encode a protein and does not contribute to ribosomal function or any biological processes. There is no evidence in the literature of disease association, functional activity, or drug interaction for this pseudogene. Its existence is primarily relevant to genomic annotation rather than to molecular pharmacology or biomedical research contexts.

Mechanism of action

None. There are no mechanisms of action relevant to this pseudogene sequence

03

Biological functions

None known; pseudogenes generally do not encode functional proteinsSometimes pseudogenes may regulate parent gene expression through RNA-mediated or epigenetic mechanisms in rare cases, but no such function is described or attributed for RPS3AP51
04

Disease associations

None directly attributed; pseudogenes overall may sometimes serve as biomarkers or play indirect roles in disease, but no specific role has been published for RPS3AP51The parent gene RPS3A has been associated with diseases, but RPS3AP51 itself has no documented disease relationship
05

Safety considerations

None. Pseudogenes do not encode functional proteins and present no known safety concerns in the context of therapeutics, diagnosis, or monitoring
