RTRAF pseudogene 2 (RTRAFP2) is a presumed non-coding pseudogene related to the RTRAF gene. Pseudogenes are genomic sequences resembling protein-coding genes but typically lack protein-coding capability due to disabling mutations or evolutionary divergence. There is no evidence that RTRAFP2 encodes a functional protein, nor is it recognized as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, transcription factor, or signaling molecule. As with other pseudogenes, regulatory roles at the RNA level are possible in principle, such as competing for miRNAs or RNA-binding proteins, but specific functions or disease associations for RTRAFP2 have not been reported in current genetic or biomedical databases. Most information available pertains to its parent gene RTRAF, which regulates RNA transcription, tRNA splicing and is involved in certain infectious and neurological disease pathways[1][3].
