Rubella Virus Antigen (N/A)

Target
N/A
Molecular classification
Viral Protein, Glycoprotein, Structural Protein
01

Overview

Rubella virus antigens are structural proteins derived from the rubella virus, including the envelope glycoproteins E1 and E2, and the capsid protein C. These antigens are crucial for the virus's life cycle and are the primary targets of the host's immune response. E1 is the main antigenic determinant and target for neutralizing antibodies, mediating receptor binding and membrane fusion. E2 assists in the folding and transport of E1. The capsid protein C binds viral RNA to form the nucleocapsid. Recombinant forms of these antigens are used in diagnostic assays, vaccine development, and antibody production.
