Overview

RUFY1 antisense RNA 1 (RUFY1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the RUFY1 gene on human chromosome 5[1][7]. As an antisense RNA, it is presumed to regulate gene expression, likely of the sense transcript RUFY1, through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference or modulation of chromatin state, which are general features of antisense lncRNAs[3]. Antisense lncRNAs frequently regulate gene expression in cis (locally to their own locus) or potentially in trans, though little is directly published about RUFY1-AS1 itself. There is no current evidence of RUFY1-AS1 serving as a therapeutic target, nor are there known interacting drugs, validated disease associations, or specific safety concerns[1][7]. It is primarily classified as an antisense RNA with possible regulatory roles that remain to be fully characterized.
