Overview

RUNX1 antisense RNA 2 (RUNX1-AS2) is a human long non-coding RNA transcribed in the antisense orientation at the RUNX1 locus. It does not encode a protein. There is little direct experimental characterization of its function in the literature. Unlike coding genes (such as RUNX1), RUNX1-AS2 is not currently recognized as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or direct modulator of disease processes. It should not be confused with other non-coding RNAs at the same locus (such as "RUNXOR" or "RUNX1 overlapping RNA"), which have some published functions in leukemia[6].

Biological functions

Other (function not well described; bioinformatic analyses suggest potential cis- or trans-regulatory roles, but no robust, experimentally validated biological function is published for RUNX1-AS2 specifically)
03

Disease associations

Other (specific disease associations are not robustly established in the literature for RUNX1-AS2; the locus is relevant in cancer through other transcripts, notably RUNX1 and the RUNX1-overlapping lncRNA "RUNXOR"[6])
