Overview

RWD domain-containing protein 1 (RWDD1) is a human protein and member of the RWD domain protein family, and may be a type of intrinsically unstructured protein. RWDD1 is ubiquitously expressed in a wide range of tissues, and its key biological role is to protect DRG2 from proteolytic degradation. It also participates in the regulation of androgen receptor activity and is implicated in cytoplasmic translation. Reduced RWDD1 expression has been observed in aged or oxidatively stressed thymic tissue in mice. There is an association of RWDD1 with Potocki-Lupski syndrome at the genetic level, but its direct involvement in human disease is not established. Currently, no drugs target RWDD1, and it is not considered a traditional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
