RWD domain-containing protein 2A (RWDD2A) is a small human protein characterized by an N-terminal RWD domain, which is part of a superfamily structurally related to ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, though it lacks catalytic activity and functions mainly in protein-protein interactions[2][3]. RWDD2A also possesses a C-terminal domain of unknown function that structurally resembles the C-terminal region of Prp3, a protein involved in spliceosomal assembly for pre-mRNA splicing, hinting at possible RNA-associated roles[2]. The biological function of RWDD2A remains unclear; its domains are associated with, but not directly responsible for, sumoylation and ubiquitination pathways[1][2]. There is no current evidence that RWDD2A plays a well-established role as a disease-related target or as a direct drug target[3].
