Overview

Rye pollen allergens are proteins found in the pollen of ryegrass (genus *Lolium*) and cereal rye (*Secale cereale*). These proteins can trigger allergic reactions in sensitized individuals, primarily through inhalation but also via ingestion or skin contact with rye-containing products. Rye pollen is a major cause of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and can provoke a range of symptoms from mild to severe, including respiratory distress and, rarely, anaphylaxis.
