S-phase kinase-associated protein 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000228154) is a non-coding sequence in the human genome with high similarity to the protein-coding SKP1 gene. SKP1 encodes a core component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, which regulates protein degradation and cell cycle progression[4][6]. However, this pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and has lost the capacity for protein-coding function due to sequence disablement[2][5]. While some pseudogenes can have regulatory effects via RNA, there is no evidence that this particular locus has biological or clinical significance. Therefore, it is not a therapeutic target and does not fit conventional categories such as receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[2][5].
