SKP1P1, or S-phase kinase-associated protein 1 pseudogene 1, is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome[1][2][6]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are not transcribed into functional proteins. While some pseudogenes can impact cellular processes by acting as decoys for microRNAs, participating in RNA interference, or modifying expression of related genes, SKP1P1 has no evidence of direct involvement in these functions or in disease. Importantly, EMC19 in this context refers to a pseudogene and not the endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein complex subunit 19, a distinct protein. There is no basis to consider SKP1P1 a therapeutic target, druggable receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar molecule[1][2][6]. In summary, SKP1P1 is a human pseudogene, not a canonical target for pharmacological or clinical intervention. Its listing as a target is incorrect for drug development or biomarker applications.
