Target intelligence / Profile preview
S100A11 pseudogene 1 (S100A11P1) is a genomic sequence resembling the protein-coding gene S100A11 but is considered a pseudogene. This means it is a nonfunctional DNA segment that does not encode a biologically active protein. Unlike S100A11, which produces a functional calcium-binding protein involved in cellular processes and has roles in disease, S100A11P1 does not produce a functional product and is not considered a therapeutic target. As a pseudogene, it is defunct and does not generate an active protein. Consequently, there are no known disease associations, biological functions, drug interactions, or biomarkers linked to S100A11P1, as it lacks expression and function. Potential confusion may arise from the similarity in name with the functional S100A11 protein.
