Target intelligence / Profile preview
S100A11 pseudogene 7 (S100A11P7) is an annotated pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA sequence related to the functional S100A11 gene but is not expected to produce a functional protein product. Pseudogenes are generally considered non-coding "genomic fossils" resulting from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are not considered therapeutic or diagnostic targets. There is no evidence that S100A11P7 is expressed as a functional protein, interacts with drugs, or contributes to disease, and it should not be confused with the protein-coding gene S100A11, which is a member of the S100 calcium-binding protein family implicated in processes such as cell growth, apoptosis, and cancer. The S100A11 gene (not the pseudogene) encodes S100 calcium-binding protein A11, which is involved in cell cycle regulation, motility, cytoskeletal dynamics, and is implicated in diseases such as cancer. Pseudogenes such as S100A11P7 do not code for functional proteins unless otherwise demonstrated; thus, they are not considered drug targets, biomarkers, or receptors. No evidence could be found in clinical, molecular, or pharmacological databases to support that S100A11P7 is expressed, functional, or relevant to therapy. S100A11P7 is a pseudogene, not a functional target. Its inclusion as a drug, receptor, or biomarker target is incorrect. If your intent is to study the protein-coding gene involved in biological and disease processes, refer to S100 calcium-binding protein A11 (S100A11) instead.
