Overview

S100P binding protein (S100PBP) is a protein originally identified through its ability to bind S100 calcium-binding protein P (S100P), a member of the S100 family involved in multiple cell signaling and cancer pathways[6]. S100PBP is a protein-coding gene (NCBI Gene: 64766, UniProt: Q96BU1) and its expression has been associated notably with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma[6]. While its detailed molecular function is still under investigation, available evidence links S100PBP to calcium-dependent regulation of S100P, and, through this binding, it may play a role in cellular adhesion and motility mechanisms relevant to tumor progression[6]. No enzymatic activity has been reported for S100PBP, and it is not classified among canonical therapeutic target families like receptors or enzymes. There is no direct evidence or established drugs targeting S100PBP, nor well-validated biomarkers or safety concerns specifically ascribed to S100PBP at this time.
