Saccharide isomerate is a plant-derived carbohydrate complex produced by the isomerization of D-glucose. It closely mimics the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) found in human skin, allowing it to bind strongly to keratinocytes and form a moisture-retaining reservoir on the surface. This unique binding mechanism provides long-lasting hydration—up to 72 hours—even after washing or exposure to environmental stressors. Saccharide isomerate also strengthens the epidermal barrier by reducing transepidermal water loss and stimulating hyaluronic acid production by fibroblasts, which helps maintain youthful, supple skin. Additionally, it supports a healthy microbiome by promoting beneficial bacteria while suppressing harmful ones.
