Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 is a strain of non-pathogenic probiotic yeast classified within the Saccharomyces cerevisiae species, originally isolated from fruit peels. It is administered orally as a live probiotic and exhibits resistance to stomach acid and antibiotics, allowing it to reach the intestines intact. Its health benefits derive from its ability to inhibit pathogen colonization, bind and degrade bacterial toxins, stimulate the production of secretory IgA, modulate inflammatory responses, and restore healthy gut microbiota.
