Overview

Serine/threonine-protein kinase SIK3, also known as Salt-Inducible Kinase 3 (SIK3), is a member of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) family. It functions as a serine/threonine kinase and plays key roles in cellular energy regulation, metabolism, circadian rhythm, and response to environmental stressors. Dysregulation of SIK3 has been observed in certain diseases including cancer. Its role in metabolic pathways makes it a potential therapeutic target for metabolic disorders, circadian rhythm disturbances, neurobiology-related conditions like sleep disorders, and possibly cancer therapy development pipelines are ongoing targeting this molecule.
