Overview

SANT and BTB domain regulator of class switch recombination (SANBR) is a protein-coding gene encoding a protein that contains both a SANT and a BTB domain[3][4]. SANBR acts as a negative regulator of class switch recombination (CSR), a critical process in B cells by which immunoglobulin production shifts from IgM/IgD to other antibody isotypes in response to antigenic stimulation[1][5]. Overexpression of SANBR in mouse splenic B cells inhibits CSR, and this negative regulatory activity depends on the BTB domain, which mediates homodimerization and interactions with corepressor proteins such as HDAC and SMRT[1][2]. SANBR belongs to the KIAA1841 family of BTB domain-containing proteins and is predicted to function primarily as a DNA-binding protein involved in gene regulation relevant to antibody diversification[1][4][6]. No known therapeutics, small molecules, or biomarkers targeting SANBR have been described, and there are no reported safety concerns or clinically relevant drug interactions for this gene.
