Overview
SAPCD1 antisense RNA 1 (SAPCD1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA gene mapped to chromosome 6. It generates an antisense transcript complementary to SAPCD1—a protein-coding gene involved in cellular regulation. Like other antisense lncRNAs, SAPCD1-AS1 may regulate gene expression of its sense gene via RNA-RNA interactions, chromatin modification, or transcriptional control in cis or trans. Antisense lncRNAs such as SAPCD1-AS1 have been implicated in the regulation of gene expression underlying cancer and other diseases, though the specific functions and mechanisms for SAPCD1-AS1 itself remain incompletely characterized. SAPCD1-AS1 is associated with giant cell glioblastoma, indicating a possible link to cancer biology
