Sarcoma antigen 2 pseudogene (SAGE2P) is annotated as a pseudogene with no evidence for protein expression, receptor activity, or direct therapeutic relevance. Unlike SAGE1, which is a cancer-testis antigen, SAGE2P lacks validated functional characterization and is not a recognized drug target. Pseudogenes such as these are typically regarded as nonfunctional genomic elements, although some may have regulatory or non-coding RNA roles[1][2]. Most recent and robust cancer biology research involving sarcoma and pseudogenes with similar names is centered on the RPSAP52 pseudogene, which is involved in regulatory functions in sarcoma and interacts with RNA-binding proteins to influence tumor biology. There is no evidence that SAGE2P specifically shares these properties[1][2].
