Target intelligence / Profile preview
SARS-CoV-2 virus antigens, primarily the Spike (S) glycoprotein and Nucleocapsid (N) phosphoprotein, are viral proteins recognized by the host immune system. The S protein mediates viral entry via ACE2 receptor binding and is the main target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccines. The N protein packages the viral RNA and is useful in diagnostics. Both elicit strong antibody responses, but only S protein antibodies confer direct neutralization.
